The German Port Museum is located in and around the historic 50s sheds in the middle of the port on Kleiner Grasbrook. Using original tools and vehicles and with the help of a number of volunteer contemporary witnesses, the port work of the general cargo and container era can be experienced. Huge cranes tower into the sky, historic freight wagons stand on the original rails of the port railroad and a coal-fired floating steam crane, a debris steam vacuum cleaner and other historic watercraft lie in the harbor basin. The most eye-catching and impressive large object among these weighty witnesses to history is the four-masted barque PEKING, which is over 100 years old.
